‘Fondness’ Art BookRather than facing each other, artist Yoon Hyungtaek depicts a warm and comfortable sense of trust that gives each other's side in the canvas. We sit next to each other without any purpose and look at the moment when we are together as if our time overlaps. Fragments of memories that are special to say daily life and friendly to say special are captured in close family images and lovers to approach the public in a friendly way.

Somewhere in between, there is ‘Fondness’ that is more mature than ‘likeness’ but more cheerful than ‘love’. If you remove the impulse, addiction and intensity from the word ‘love’, you get ‘Fondness’.

For the artist, looking at each other face to face means love, and looking from the side means likeness which is the reason why the artist likes to draw side profiles. In other words, the artist prefers likeness rather than love. A problem arises because what the artist seeks to express is neither love nor likeness. The likeness that the artist wants to express through his works can be defined as an emotion that doesn’t have the impulse, addiction, and intensity of love, and which overlaps the affection over and over again. 윤형택 작가는 서로 마주하기보다는 서로의 곁을 내어주는 따뜻하고 편안한 신뢰감을 화폭 속에 그려낸다. 어떠한 목적 없이 곁에 앉아 서로의 시간이 겹치듯 함께하는 그 순간을 흥미롭게 바라본다. 일상이라 하기엔 특별하고, 특별하다 하기엔 친근한 기억의 조각들을 가까이하는 가족의 모습, 사랑하는 연인의 모습 속에 담아내어 대중들 속에 친근하게 다가간다.

윤형택의 Fondness는 좋아함의 감정이 오랜 시간 축적되어 견고하게 다져진 그 공간에 존재하는 감정을 의미한다. ‘좋아한 다’ 보다는 성숙하고, ‘사랑한다’ 보다는 경쾌한 그 사이 어디쯤, Fondness가 있다. 사랑이란 단어에서 충동과 중독, 강렬함을 지운다면 그 또한 가깝다.

작가에게 있어 마주봄은 사랑을 뜻하며, 옆모습은 좋아함을 의미한다.
이는 작가가 옆모습을 그리는 이유이기도 하다. 말하자면 작가는 사랑 보다는 ‘좋아함을 좋아한다’. 이 지점에서 하나의 문제점이 발생하는데, 작가가 작업을 통해 표현하고자 하는 의미는 사랑도 좋아함도 아닌 까닭이다. 작가가 표현하고자 하는 좋아함은 사랑에서 충동과 중독, 강렬함을 지우고, 좋아함에 좋아함을 반복하여 중첩시킨 감정이라고 할 수 있다.
